Ken came to Caspar after retiring from a career in banking, and was a thoughtful, patient founding member of the Caspar Steering Committee, later formalized as the Caspar Community (Inc.) Board. His financial knowledge, and love for Caspar, helped a ‘herd of cats’ focus on their shared vision for a kinder, inclusive village.
Shirley, Ken’s perfect complement, tolerated with a smile and many heartfelt hugs, the first years of the often raucous meetings of the Steering committee, as they ironed out their differences and found their consensus. Always welcoming, no matter how much mud we tracked in, she and Ken are both remembered fondly as avatars of the spirit of Caspar.
No longer among us, their memory is a vivid reminder that our human treasures are transitory, and should be appreciated before they are gone. If anyone has a better picture of Ken and Shirley in Caspar, please send it to lists@casparcommons.org. |
